  • Emma Hayes

    Emma Hayes is the Executive Director of Empathy FX and Founder of the Every Woman Project.

    Emma spent the summer of 2008 in Tanzania, where she founded Make Your Mark in Africa: The Pencil Project to empower children through education. After a 2009 trip to Ghana, she began working with Nana Aggrey Fynn to support rural villages including Old Odonase.

    In 2023, Emma reconnected with Nana and Rosemary to expand Empathy FX’s impact in Ghana’s Central Region, strengthening educational infrastructure and launching the Every Woman Project to support women and girls’ health.

    She now oversees all aspects of the non-profit from fundraising to development and has traveled to Ghana three times.

    Emma holds a B.A. from Trinity College (CT) and is based in New York City. 

  • Nana Aggrey Fynn

    Nana Aggrey Fynn leads the local Empathy FX team in Ghana as Director and Co-Founder of the organization.

    Nana was born and raised in Cape Coast, Ghana, and began his nonprofit career in 2004 with Global Routes as Overall Country Coordinator. Under his leadership, Empathy FX was recognized as the premier nonprofit in Ghana’s Central Region by the Paramount House of Chiefs (2016–2019).

    He brings two decades of experience facilitating education partnerships between the US and Ghana.

  • Rosemary DeAragon

    Rosemary Hua is the Founder of Empathy FX International. She spent over a decade as the Executive Director and serves as a board member for the organization.

    Rosemary is Global Head of Retail & CPG Strategy at Snowflake, Inc. She serves on the boards of the Revolution Robotics Foundation and the University Catholic Conferences of California (both 501c3 organizations).

    Since 2009, Rosemary has traveled to Ghana eight times, overseeing construction and management of five schools serving over one thousand students.

    Under Rosemary’s leadership, Empathy FX was cited by President Barack Obama for Exceptional Service Abroad, and Forbes named her to 30 Under 30 (2021).

    Rosemary holds B.A. and B.S. degrees from UC Berkeley and resides in Los Altos, California.

  • Hannah Baffoe

    Hannah Baffoe joined Empathy FX International in February 2024 and serves as the Director of The Every Woman Project in Ghana.

    She leads the implementation of women’s health initiatives, including menstrual supply distribution, bi-monthly “Girl Talk” sessions, and coordination between the U.S. and Ghana teams to monitor program impact and community needs.

    Hannah’s deep understanding of the challenges women in Old Odonase face makes her a trusted role model and advocate. Her strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills have been instrumental to the success of The Every Woman Project.

    Fluent in English, Twi, and Fante, Hannah grew up in Ghana’s Central Region, where she excelled academically and earned sponsorship to attend senior high school.

    Hannah earned her degree from the University of Cape Coast and now resides in Kumasi, Ghana.

  • Bernard Abakah

    Bernard Abakah serves as the Program Development Manager at Empathy FX International.

    He joined the organization in 2021 after moving from Ghana to the United States to pursue graduate studies.

    Born and raised in Old Odonase, Bernard brings a deep understanding of the community’s culture, values, and evolving needs. His insight ensures that each project and grant proposal reflects authentic local context and meaningful impact.

    Bernard is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania.

    Bernard has served as Director for Research, Scholarship & Graduate Transitions for the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (U.S.) and as Co-President of Penn’s Black Graduate and Professional Students Association.

    His personal connection to Old Odonase, including his sister being a beneficiary of the 2024 Maldari grant, drives his ongoing commitment to advancing educational and development opportunities across Ghana.

  • Charles Atta Fynn

    Charles Atta Fynn is the In-Country Travel Program Manager of Empathy FX International in a full-time capacity. Charles was born and raised in the village where we built the 2012 Empathy FX school. Charles oversees the construction of our program’s buildings.
